VALORANT: Tactical Knife

A simple design for sure, this knife had to be something that from a visual and animation standpoint was small, out of the way and fun to spam. Considering that you'd be looking at your knife mostly when running or idling in spawn, we wanted to make sure there was room for variety here. We tried different animation styles on this weapon, trying different combinations between stabs and slashes, and ultimately realized we had A LOT of room to play. We ended up making archetypes for melee weapons, using this one as the "tactical" base, but soon ventured further out into other archetypes that allow for a more assassin style swing, or an aggressive strike. While having no impact on gameplay, we wanted melee weapons to be a space where we could really push visuals and such for skins, further than we could for guns.
